Frequently asked questions
Do you combine shipping costs?
Absolutely! Domestic orders over $35 within the USA ship free of charge, while smaller orders have nominal shipping costs accurately calculated by the cart.
What are the measurements of this item?
Clear measurements are included with every description, but we are always happy to convert standard to metric for you, and metric to standard. Just ask!
What is considered "vintage"?
Vintage (pre-2002) and antique (pre-1940) items will be stated in the title. Much of what we sell was found in old shops or foundries, almost always in multiples and usually discovered in the original packaging materials.
If an item is a new supply, it will be stated as such.
Why does this "old" medallion look new?
Aluminum is lovely for its durability and ability to hold intricate detail. Being lightweight and shiny is not an indication of compromised quality, but rather an early alternative to heavier more costly metals.
Most of the aluminum pieces we offer for sale are extremely vintage, even antique. Some bear the original foundry markings, and most have come from Europe.
Due to the complexities of refining aluminum from ore, aluminum was considered more valuable than gold or silver through most of the 1800s. In the early 1900s the refinement was simplified, and aluminum became an inexpensive material. In the religious world, this meant that small devotionals were obtainable by anyone, even if they could not afford precious metals.
DISCLAIMER: These items are NOT intended for use by children.
Intended solely for collecting and crafting, many of these vintage items have very small or potentially brittle parts, and were manufactured in an era before modern child safety laws existed. Please exercise common sense and caution, always supervise children and vulnerable adults with both small and breakable items.
Likewise, flammable items such as incense are not to be ingested and are to be used only as intended, under constant supervision.
